betty short/board of directors
Betty Short is one of the Directors of the Chemainus Monetary Foundation. She is a retired teacher who moved to the Chemainus area 12 years ago. Her community involvement includes volunteering with the Chemainus and District Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store, Chemainus Theatre, Chemainus Chamber of Commerce and Port Theatre in Nanaimo. Most recently she volunteered in the accreditation section of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
Betty has been a very active citizen in each area where she has lived. Many of the skills acquired in the classroom have applications in volunteer organizations – being an effective listener, valuing other people’s points of view, facilitating group responsibilities, possessing a work ethic where you continue doing the best you can on any project and follow it through to its final form. Possessing of a good sense of humor always brings a positive direction to any situation! Computer competency is also an asset!
Chemainus has a vibrant history and its citizens take great pride in presenting its creative image to the world. Betty, as one of its ambassadors, is pursuing that goal too with the introduction of this exciting new currency.
