shawna mcphillips/vice president
Shawna McPhillips, born and raised on Vancouver Island, started her professional career with a local mortgage company in 1992. After several years experience, Shawna became a mortgage broker, gaining invaluable knowledge in finance, real estate and business development. Shawna joined the Coastal Community Credit Union team after being a member herself since childhood. Shawna’s ambition and passion to excel in business showed as she quickly developed her career through working as a lender, Assistant Manager and now as Branch Manager of the Chemainus Community Branch.
Since joining Coastal Community Credit Union in 2002, Shawna has experienced many accomplishments which include recognition as a Sterling Award Nominee, Athena Award Finalist and Master Networker Award (awarded
for excelling in: Leadership, Professionalism, Dedication and Networking). Shawna has most recently been developing her skills as a leadership coach and has just been appointed by Coastal Community as one of five internal coaches for the organization.
Like the company she works for, Shawna is very dedicated to her community. She continues to facilitate many successful fundraising branch initiatives supporting many organizations such as the Chemainus Food Bank, Chemainus Theatre Festival, Arthritis Society, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. In addition to being a dedicated board member for the Chemainus Monetary Foundation, Shawna is also a board member and Treasurer for the Chemainus BC BIA.
Shawna prides herself in setting a good example for her four young children (aka her “volunteers in training”) by including them in as many volunteer opportunities as possible, such as canvassing annually for the Canadian Cancer Society. Quality time with family is very important to Shawna and she appreciates the support she receives daily from her husband and extended family. With this support Shawna is able to find balance at work, home and community.
